- S: "Summer type", Subtropical high (over the ocean south of Japan) extending to Japan
- T: Tropical storm
- W: "Winter type", anticyclone to the west (over the Asian continent), cyclone to the east (over the Pacific ocean)
- X: Classification not determined (yet).
"cyc" : "1" if development of cyclone(s) is recognized (Masuda's subjective decision as of 2020-07-11 based on surface pressure contour maps.)
"match" : "OK" if development of cyclone(s) is recognized both in the weather assimilation exp. and in JRA55.
